I love, love, love January 1st, as that’s when, as a true bibliophile,
I can start my slew of annual reading challenges—a trend that brings people, interests, and books together, with a purpose. That purpose—keeping track of what you read in certain categories, genres, etc.. The possibilities are endless. It’s harmless, fun, and helps you have a mental snapshot of your book style, and what authors/titles hit your hot button at any particular time.
Having started this practice about three years ago, I’ve only finished a handful, but I can’t lie, I love a good book challenge, and for 2015, I’m determined to finish ‘em all!
My main go-to site for finding and signing up for these challenges? It’s A Novel Challenge, and they keep a humongous, constantly updated repository of all things book challenge- related. There’s certainly a challenge [or two, or three, or twelve] waiting just for you to sign on. And you don’t have to be a blogger, either. Even a Goodreads shelf will more than suffice for reviews and wrap-ups. Anther top source of recommendations, challenges, and making those literary connections is Library Thing, which got me started in this vein.
Check out the other page on this blog, the 2015 BibliOdyssey to see the ambitious goals I’ve set for myself. Is anyone out there with me for sharing in a challenge? It’s my mental exercise for the brain. Push-ups for the mind, I say……..
