September is Hunger Awareness Month, and over at Feeding America, September 6 is the day to wear orange either physically, or virtually, to Speak Out For Hunger.
Here’s the scoop directly from Feeding America on a cause that is no quick fix:
“Go Orange on September 6 to Speak Out Against Hunger by wearing orange, the color of hunger-relief, or Go Orange digitally http://twibbon.com/cause/Speak-Out-Against-Hunger/Facebook
Why speak out? Because the nearly 49 million Americans who struggle with hunger often do so in silence. They live in our communities; they are our neighbors, our co-workers, and our friends, yet their struggles can go unheard. By simply lending your voice, you can make a tangible contribution in the fight to end hunger. Learn more at HungerActionMonth.org.”
Don’t hesitate to connect with your local food bank to make a difference—either by donating time, money, food stapes, or stirring up community awareness about this matter. In a land of plenty, no one should have to go to bed hungry. In a land of plenty, there is enough or all, when we fully understand that food insecurity is not something to take lightly. “Green” the lives of others through supplying healthy meals.
