Unfortunately, due to my “busyness,” a lot of great concepts and events get past me, but I still like to acknowledge them anyway, and share the info with you.
I just learned today about the Save the Bookstores Day, which was celebrated for the 2nd year on Saturday June, 16, 2012. The brainchild of Kelly Sonnack, a literary agent, it was created to show support and love for the many brick-and-mortar bookstores in our communities. As an avid lifelong reader, this kind of observance is right up my alley. Everytime I walk in a bookstore, new or used, it’s like being a kid on Christmas.
It’s never been a better time to browse the aisles to check out a new author, explore an unfamiliar genre, or grab a book ( or 2, or3!) for you child who could use a battery-free adventure. Check out the blog post from Kelly and three of her clients explaining why bookstores truly rock!
Better yet, even if you “missed” today like me, don’t let that stop you. Just go out and celebrate at your favorite bookplaces as soon as you can, and let those booksellers know how much they matter in your lifestyle.
