In just three days, on Saturday, October 2, yet another demonstration of solidarity will take place at Lincoln Mall in Washington, D.C. Called One Nation Working Together, it will put a human face on the movement that continues to demand the changes for human, civil, and economic rights.
From 12 noon to 4 pm, there will be a sweeping program featuring leaders from the civil rights sector, the environmental sector, the labor sector, interfaith activists, celebrities supporting the causes, along with a number of sports figures. Free and open to the public, over 150 national, state, and local organizations have come together as one seamless body to re-commit to justice, education, and economic fairness.
Part of the mission statement:
“We are One Nation, born from many, determined to build a more united America—with jobs, justice, and education for all.”
Expected are hundreds of thousands from all across the nation, as they arrive in carpools, busses, planes, and AMTRAK trains. How fitting that “10.2.10” takes place exactly one month before the mid-term elections on 11-2-10. This is another effort to stir up the grassroots activism that reminds us that change is in our hands.
